Write On, Right Now

Write On, Right Now is a writer's support group meeting alternately at Headquarters Library and at Village Coffee House and Bakery on Boone Trail Extension.

The group is open to the public. Members may be

  • published or aspiring writers.
  • traditionally or self-published.
  • working at varying skill levels.
  • writing in any genre.

WORN meets on the first and third Thursday of each month.

From 6:00-6:30 we meet and socialize and by 6:30 we begin the main focus of our meeting. This may include a short presentation but primarily we share and discuss our own works. The group provides personal criticism in a safe and friendly atmosphere. Sharing, critiquing or reading aloud is encouraged but not required. Members also provide support, advice and encouragement based on personal experience with both the traditional and self-publishing processes.

WORN is intended for adult writers, though teens are not turned away. The group does not restrict language to a G-rating, however. .

The Arts Council of Fayetteville/Cumberland County offers an annual Regional Artists Project Grant for artists--yes, writers ARE artists--to fund their goals. The amount varies, and the application is comparativley simple.

Last year several members of WORN received grant funding to buy equipment and to attend conferences. One writer received funding for a research trip.

What do you need to reach your dreams?

Find infomration about the grant and application process on the Arts Council website  at
